butalbital*, USP ........................................................ 50 mg Cialis® (Butalbital, Acetaminophen, and Caffeine Tablets, USP) is supplied in tablet form for oral administration |
| Cialis contains acetaminophen, which reduces fever and relieves pain. Cialis is considered a barbiturate. This slows the brain and nerve impulses in the central nervous system, thereby causing relaxation. It also contains caffeine. This is thought to contrict blood vessels that, when dilated, might cause tension headaches. These three drugs, Cialis, acetaminophen, and caffeine ease tension headaches caused by muscle contraction. It's not known exactly how it works.
Cialis Directions? You should take care to follow all instructions when on Cialis. If there is anything that is not clear to you, ask your doctor or pharmacist to further explain it. Take each dose with a full glass of water. You can also take it with milk or food to help prevent upset stomach. Don't take more than has been prescribed for you. If the dose does not adequately relieve your pain, talk to your doctor about it. Cialis Side Effects? Cialis does not usually cause side effects. However, if you experience any serious side effects, stop taking Cialis and get immediate medical attention. Possible side effects include slow, weak breathing; abdominal pain or discomfort, liver damage (nausea, yellowing of the skin or eyes, unusual bleeding or bruising, severe fatigue); blood problems (easy or unusual bleeding or bruising); or low blood sugar (fatigue, dizziness, increased hunger or thirst, or fainting). These are rare side effects. Stop taking Cialis and consult with your doctor if you have any strange reactions. Other more common side effects may include drowsiness; dizziness, confusion or lightheadedness; shortness of breath; dry mouth; nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, or decreased appetite; tiredness, leg pain, or muscle weakness; agitation, irritability, nervousness, anxiety or excitability; rash or itching; feeling of intoxication; headache; or constipation. Talk to your doctor if you experience any of these effects. Cialis Warnings? You must use extreme care when taking Cialis. This medication can lead to drowsiness or dizziness. Be careful not to drive or operate machinery until you know how you will respond to the drug. Do not do anything dangerous while dizzy or drowsy. Use care not to combine sedatives, tranquilizers, antihistamines, or sleeping pills with Cialis. Excessive drowsiness can result. Do not consume alcohol while you are on Cialis. The combination can cause increased drowsiness as well as possible liver damage. Do not take a combination of drugs that contain over 4,000 mg (4 g) of acetaminophen a day. Cialis Drug Interactions? You should not use Cialis if you have used monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) such as isocarboxazid (Marplan), phenelzine (Nardil), or tranylcypromine (Parnate) within the last two weeks. This combination can sometimes cause serious reactions. Minimize your use of sedatives, tranquilizers, sleeping pills, or antihistamines, since they can cause increased drowsiness. Tell your doctor about all other medicines you use, and don't take any others without letting him or her know. Several other medications contain acetaminophen as well, including cold, allergy, pain, and fever reducers. Be careful not to take too much acetaminophen. Some other medicines may also interact with acetaminophen. Check with your doctor if you plan to take any new prescriptions. Cialis Missed Dose? Do not try to make up missed doses of Cialis. If you accidentally skip a dose, just resume your normal dosing schedule. Cialis Storage? Always store Cialis in a cool dry location. It should never be stored within reach of children.
